Job summary

University of Kansas Lawrence Campus is seeking an Outdoor Pursuit Specialist (Student Hourly) to operate the climbing wall, rental office and teambuilding activities. You will belay, enforce policies, supervise wall activities and assist with gear rentals and cash handling.

The role requires enrollment in 6+ credit hours, CPR/AED certification (or ability to obtain) and knowledge of climbing equipment. This hourly, non-exempt position supports Recreation Services and offers campus work.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours during the semester term.
• CPR/AED certification required (can be completed within 30 days of hire).
• Experience with climbing equipment and outdoor gear preferred.

Responsibilities

• 50% - Climbing Wall: belay certification checks, enforce policies, supervise wall activities, belay participants on main wall.
• 40% - Rental Office: assist participants with equipment rentals, perform point-of-sale transactions, handle cash.
• 5% - Teambuilding: facilitate teambuilding programs, organize activities for participants.
• 5% - Other duties: assist in trips and programs, attend staff meetings and trainings, support Recreation Services as needed.
