Job summary

The Davey Tree Expert Company is seeking a Plant Health Care Technician to fertilize and manage pests on trees, shrubs, and lawns on site in Wheeling, IL. You will diagnose insect, weed, and disease conditions and educate clients on prescribed treatments. You’ll drive and operate spray equipment while maintaining safety standards.

Qualifications

• Outdoor work required and enjoys working outside in varied conditions.
• Background in forestry, horticulture, or landscaping preferred.
• Possession of pesticide licenses or ability to obtain licenses as required by state law.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required.

Responsibilities

• Cultivate career by applying fertilization and pest management methods to trees, shrubs and lawns.
• Identify insects, weeds, fungus conditions and pest-prone areas, and diagnose problems.
• Educate clients about diagnosis, prescribed pest control and fertilization services.
• Monitor plant health and fertilizing methods post-application and report progress to customers and supervisors.
• Operate, drive, maintain and properly use equipment (truck and sprayer).
