Job summary

Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is seeking a State Park Technician to manage Union Grove State Park, including a 282-acre area with a 110-acre lake, trails, and diverse habitats. You will work under the Park Manager to maintain facilities and support public recreation and conservation efforts.

The role emphasizes outdoor work, teamwork, and interactions with visitors and volunteers, with opportunities for professional development and a strong benefits package.

Qualifications

• Experience working in or with parks or natural resources is preferred.
• Must possess and maintain valid Iowa driver’s license.
• Ability to operate maintenance equipment and perform outdoor labor in varying weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Maintain park facilities, restrooms, campgrounds, and shelters in clean, safe condition.
• Operate equipment such as tractors, mowers, power tools, and boats.
• Conduct habitat restoration, invasive species control, and prescribed burns as needed.
• Engage with park visitors at events and provide information and safety guidance.
• Assist with fee collection, data management, and supervision of seasonal aides and volunteers.
