Job summary

Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) seeks Mobile Equipment Operators to keep roads and bridges safe. You will operate heavy equipment, perform inspections, and support maintenance tasks across multiple parishes.

No experience is required; training is provided and opportunities for career progression exist. Roles are outdoor, potentially requiring shift work, travel, and emergency response.

Qualifications

• No experience or training is required.
• May require a valid Louisiana Class “D” Chauffeur’s License or CDL prior to permanent appointment or start date, depending on assignment.
• Outdoor, physically active role with varying weather conditions.
• Shift work, night work, overtime, travel, or emergency call-outs may apply.
• Locations include Tangipahoa, Washington, St. Tammany, St. Helena, St. John Parishes, District 62.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy and specialized equipment used in road and bridge maintenance.
• Assist with construction, repair, and upkeep of highways and bridges.
• Perform routine equipment inspections and basic preventative maintenance.
• Support traffic control, cleanup, and emergency response activities.
• Work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Perform physical tasks such as lifting, loading materials, and using hand and power tools.
• Assist or guide lower-level operators as needed.
