Job summary

Osmose Utilities Services, Inc. seeks Field Data Technicians to collect detailed outdoor data for fiber optic and utility projects. The role involves hiking between utility spans to capture measurements and photos, with training provided by Osmose.

Position requires overnight travel 1–2 weeks at a time, weekends at home, and potential longer assignments. Start at $24.50/hour plus bonus and travel reimbursements; benefits available for full-time staff.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical background preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of telecommunications and/or electrical distribution systems is a plus.
  • Knowledge of pole design including NESC requirements and safety practices is a plus.
  • Outdoor work in all weather, physically demanding tasks lifting 15–20 lbs.
  • Ability to read GPS maps and follow field data procedures.
  • Travel and overnight stays may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Work in an outdoor environment to collect field data supporting fiber optic facility design.
  • Submit organized data, maps, notes and digital images for projects.
  • Operate and maintain equipment including tablet, camera, measuring tools, PPE.
  • Represent Osmose professionally in the field and to customers.
  • Communicate daily with the project management team.
  • Work safely and independently with minimal supervision.
