Job summary

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of tasks involving strenuous manual labor in heavy/highway construction projects.
• Prepare surfaces for paving.
• Assist in patching asphalt with hot and cold mix.
• Shovel bituminous concrete into construction area.
• Fine grade fill to grades as instructed by foreman.
• Load and unload trucks and haul and hoist materials.
• Assist other craft workers.
• Maintain a clean job site and secure tools and equipment daily.
• Follow safety procedures and report issues to the Foreman or Safety Supervisor.
• Understand work directions and communicate with supervisors and fellow employees.
• Stand eight to ten hours per day outdoors in all weather, including extreme heat.
• Move and handle generators, lumber, forms, power and hand tools, and other construction materials.
• Maintain awareness of concurrent activities and equipment movements.
• Willingness and ability to perform manual work.
