Job summary

The High Desert Conservation Corps- AmeriCorps Field Team Leader is a 47-week, 1700-hour full-time, nonresidential position in Central Oregon. The FTL will gain hands-on conservation project leadership experience and train to lead crews of young adults under an HOC Crew Leader, transitioning to independent leadership over time.

Primary duties include mentoring crew members, supporting trainings, and ensuring safe, inclusive environments on outdoor projects.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Preferred: experience with conservation corps, natural resources, outdoor leadership, or environmental education backgrounds/degrees.
• Strong desire to lead and take on responsibility.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and monitor crew members on daily projects under supervision.
• Develop logistical and leadership skills to prepare crews for projects and troubleshoot issues.
• Support in-field or classroom trainings, enrichment activities, and spike camping duties; promote safety and inclusivity.
