Job summary

Colonial Group is seeking a Warehouse Associate II/Material Handler I – Supervisor support – in a non climate-controlled warehouse in Tennessee. You will assist with daily operations, inventory accuracy, forklift inspections, and staff coordination to meet customer needs.

The role requires at least a high school diploma or GED, RF handheld experience, and forklift/cherry picker certifications, with strong English communication skills for safety and procedures.

Qualifications

  • RF handheld experience required.
  • Certified to operate forklifts and cherry pickers.
  • Strong proficiency in English communication including reading, writing, and verbal interactions are required for complying with safety protocols and operational procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Supervisor with department output, quality, and capability.
  • Prioritize work and assign associates to areas.
  • Assist with interviewing, hiring and training employees.
  • Support with disciplining employees.
  • Use KPIs to drive continuous improvement in quality and efficiency.
  • Address employee complaints and resolve problems.
  • Collaborate with Customer Service on issues and projects.
  • Manage time-off requests and timecard approvals.
  • Back up the Supervisor by understanding all area functions.
  • Coordinate with Human Resources for staffing.
  • Perform weekly forklift inspections.
  • Assist with inventory accuracy.
  • Ensure equipment/tools are in proper working order.
  • Run productivity reports.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization.
  • Follow all safety rules.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job description

Summary:

This position is responsible for assisting the department Supervisor with the overall output, quality, condition and capability of their assigned department, including receiving, picking, packing, storage and shipping of products to meet the customer needs.

Duties:
  • Must be able to perform all duties of a Warehouse Associate II and Material Handler I.
  • Assist Warehouse Associates in prioritizing work.
  • Assign Warehouse Associates to areas as needed to meet warehouse demands.
  • Assist with interviewing, hiring and training employees.
  • Assist with disciplining employees.
  • Effectively use KPI’s and other means to drive continuous improvement to increase quality, efficiency, productivity, and resource utilization.
  • Address employee complaints and resolve problems.
  • Collaborate with Customer Service on issues and special projects.
  • Assist the Warehouse Supervisor to manage personnel issues including time off requests and timecard approval.
  • Understand all work functions in area of expertise and maintain sufficient knowledge to serve as back-up to the department Supervisor.
  • Work with Human Resources for staffing needs.
  • Perform weekly forklift inspections.
  • Assist with ensuring accurate inventory counts.
  • Responsible to see that all equipment and tools in the area are in proper working order.
  • Assists with running productivity reports.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area.
  • Follow all safety rules.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Education and Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED required.

1+ years of warehouse operations experience preferred.

RF handheld experience required.

Certified to operate forklifts and cherry pickers.

Strong proficiency in English communication including reading, writing, and verbal interactions are required for complying with safety protocols and operational procedures.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk on level surfaces for a prolonged period. The employee frequently is required to talk and hear; use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms above should height and below the waist. The employee must be able to lift up to 20 lbs. 70% of the day and up to 65 lbs. 30% of the day.
