Job summary

Unique Industries, Inc. is seeking an Outbound Supervisor to manage the Blairs, Virginia warehouse shipping operations. The role focuses on directing workflows, maintaining accuracy, and ensuring safety and efficiency across the shipping department.

You will contribute to continuous improvement, supervise staff, attend daily management meetings, and uphold quality and safety standards in a family-owned environment.

Responsibilities

  • Manages shipping of customer orders with 100% accuracy.

  • Ensures compliance with warehouse systems and RF tools.
  • Oversees safe handling of goods and housekeeping in the department.
  • Provides daily direction and resolves problems for the team.

About Our Opportunity

We are seeking an Outbound Supervisor to work in the Blairs, Virginia, warehouse. The Outbound Supervisor is responsible for managing and directing efficient work flow associated with the Shipping Department.

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Nothing in this job description restricts management’s right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this job at any time.

  • Manages the shipping of customer orders with 100% accuracy.
  • Monitors, and maintains departmental budget.
  • Develops, executes, and revises departmental SOP’s to enhance quality, quantity, accuracy, and continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrates compliance in established warehouse systems integrity relative to RF and system verification tools.
  • Ensures the safe and proper handling of goods through material handling equipment.
  • Manages adherence to departmental housekeeping procedures through the removal of cardboard, plastic, paper, and other warehouse debris.
  • Maintains records necessary for the preparation and distribution of accurate and timely reports.
  • Interacts with all areas of the department to understand issues and assess needs to improve consistency and integrity of processes.
  • Responsible for daily management and supervision of departmental workforce including: providing direction, setting deadlines, and resolving problems. Administers corrective action according to company guidelines.
  • Attends daily management meetings.
  • Strives to continuously build knowledge and skills. Stays current with developments within the manufacturing and distribution field and shares expertise with others.
  • Exhibits a professional manner in dealing with others, and works to maintain constructive working relationships.
  • A commitment to companywide quality and safety is required.
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of distribution warehouse procedures, practices, and regulations.
  • Ability to communicate with management, colleagues, line staff, and individuals outside the company in order to meet departmental goals.
  • Strong analytical skills with a methodological approach to problem solving and implementation.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills including the ability to present ideas, and/or facts and recommendations effectively.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret related documents.
  • Strong computer skills including proficiency in Word, Excel, WMS and JDE
  • Ability to manage groups through project implementation.
  • Excellent follow-up and organizational skills with the ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to work independently with little direction.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or GED required. Associate’s degree (A.A.) preferred.
  • One to three years’ experience in a distribution/manufacturing environment required.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
  • Valid State Driver’s License required.

Pay

  • We offer competitive pay based on job-related skills, experience, relevant education, training, and geographic location.
  • The starting annual salary is $54,000.
  • Actual pay will be determined based on the candidate’s qualifications, the Company’s compensation guidelines, and business needs.
