Job summary

Sysco in Harahan, LA is seeking a warehouse associate to load and unload shipments, prepare pallets, and transport master containers as directed under supervision.

Responsibilities include lifting up to 100 pounds, loading trucks, wrapping pallets, and maintaining safety standards. You must be 18+, able to work Sundays and nights, with good English and basic arithmetic. A high school diploma is preferred and prior warehouse experience is a plus.

General Summary:

This is an warehouse position responsible for loading pre-assembled merchandise/pallets and master containers for shipment or transporting on delivery vehicles as directed under general supervision.

Essential Skills and Knowledge
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English.
  • Basic arithmetic skills.
  • Good physical stamina.
Essential Duties:
  • Loads and unloads shipments as required; constant lifting of boxes weighing up to 100 pounds each.
  • Loads trucks according to truck mapping and special instructions.
  • Loads product in a manner to avoid damages and maintain load stability to insure driver safety.
  • Wraps pallets by machine or hand to insure stability.
  • Unloads and cleans out trucks as necessary
  • Operates stock trucks and mechanical jacks throughout the plant constantly in a safe manner.
  • Prepares products for shipment under general supervision by weighing, handling and transporting as necessary. Marks, addresses, loads, and packs product for proper delivery and condition.
  • Hand loads product onto trucks as required
  • Complies with all safety regulations and standards.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • 18+ years of age
  • Ability to work on Sundays
  • Ability to work nights
Preferred Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • 3 months warehouse experience and/or 3 months operating an electric pallet jack or forklift and/or a history of physical nature roles preferred
