Job summary

Clean Harbors in Pecatonica, IL is seeking an OTR Class A CDL Driver (Home Weekends) to operate a variety of commercial vehicles and equipment, including dry van trailers, roll-off trucks, vacuum trucks, and tanker trucks. This role performs driving and non-driving duties on and off customer sites associated with hazardous waste clean-up.

Responsibilities include safety-driven operation of Class A trucks, loading/unloading, site labor when needed, and maintaining documentation per DOT rules.

Qualifications

• Valid Class A CDL is required.
• Hazmat and Tanker endorsements within 90 days of employment.
• Ability to use various mobile devices as part of daily work.
• Must meet physical requirements and pass a pre-employment medical.
• Successfully complete background check and drug test.
• Meet facial hair standards per OSHA respirator requirements.

Responsibilities

• Ensure Health and Safety is the priority by following all safety policies.
• Operate commercial trucks and assist field laborers as needed.
• Drive a variety of Class A trucks including dry van, roll-off, vacuum, and tanker vehicles.
• Load and unload trucks and perform manual on-site labor.
• Place proper placards to meet DOT requirements.
• Maintain daily logs, time sheets and reports.
• Comply with local, state and federal regulations and DOT rules.
• Operate vehicles safely per company guidelines and EH&S policies.
• Be on call for emergency response on a rotating basis.
• Assist with site remediation and handling of hazardous materials when required.

This role is responsible for performing driving and non-driving duties on and off customer sites associated with hazardous waste clean-up.

• Over the road
• Monday - Friday schedule, home and off weekends
• Hazmat and tanker endorsements preferred, the ability to obtain required

Note: This position requires new hires to attend our out-of-state Academy training, which may require being away from home for a period of time. Training duration may vary based on scheduling and program requirements. Training is paid, and related expenses are covered by the company.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensure Health and Safety is the number one priority by complying with all safe work practices, policies, and processes and always acting in a safe manner
• Operate commercial trucks and assist field laborers when needed (team atmosphere where everyone helps)
• Operate a variety of Class A trucks
• Loading and unloading of trucks
• Manual labor on site to ensure fulfillment of customer needs
• Proper placarding of vehicles to meet Company and DOT requirements/regulations
• Maintain daily logs, time sheets, and various reports
• Follow all local, state (provincial) and federal compliance regulations and rules
• Safely operate vehicles in accordance with U.S. DOT, local, state (provincial) and federal requirements
• Safely observe all corporate operating guidelines and procedures
• Observe all company environmental health and safety operating guidelines
• Performs other duties as assigned
• By position, ability to be on call for emergency response on rotating basis every other week
• By position, site-remediation, equipment decontamination, and the handling of hazardous materials

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Qualifications:

• Valid Class A CDL
• Ability to obtain Hazmat and Tanker endorsement within 90 days of employment
• Ability to use various mobile devices
• Perform physical functions per job requirements
• Successfully complete a background check, drug test, and physical, by position
• Per OSHA's Respiratory Protection Standard, 29 CFR 1910.34, employees in positions requiring respirators are required to meet facial hair standards.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Commercial driver experience
• Hazmat and Tanker endorsement
• Previous Hazmat experience
• Ability to operate a manual transmission
• Previous manual labor experience
