Job summary

Responsibilities

• Implements patient treatments within the established plan of care per state practice act.
• Communicates and reports patient progress and discharge planning with referring provider and supervising Occupational Therapist.
• Maintains effective and timely communication with team staff to optimize patient outcomes and discharge planning.
• Documents within state practice act guidelines and ensures documentation meets organizational and payor requirements.
• Under supervision of an OT, provides patient treatments using evidence-based practice for client-centered OT interventions to achieve goals.
• Assists in discharge planning including home assessments and communication to patient, family, and other healthcare professionals.
• Provide patient and family education related to current condition, discharge planning, or other factors; report to ancillary staff during team conferences.
• Demonstrates professional conduct and safe practice as an Occupational Therapist Assistant.
• Supervises OTA clinical students and volunteers, serving as a resource and ensuring scope of practice.
• Maintains thorough documentation supporting care provision and progress toward goals; updates OT as needed.
• Contributes to a high-performance environment by seeking additional resources and continuing education.
• Performs other duties and special projects as assigned by Manager or Director.
• Participates in department rotations and assists with orientation and training of staff.
• Assists with Performance Improvement Programs and maintains department readiness.
