Job summary

Moog Inc. in Torrance, CA is seeking an OSV Quality Assurance Auditor to join our Military Aircraft Group.

This on-site role reports to the site Quality Manager and focuses on auditing, inspection, and process improvement to ensure conforming parts meet Moog’s specifications. The OSV QA Auditor will plan audits, inspect parts, and provide guidance on complex drawings and inspection methods while supporting production and engineering teams.

Qualifications

• Associates degree or equivalent technical education.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience with precision machines and/or assembly and test processes.
• Experience with measuring/test equipment and gages used in inspection.
• Familiar with audit documentation and presentation.

Responsibilities

• Plan and perform OSV process audits to verify process effectiveness.
• Inspect parts during audits using varied inspection layouts.
• Provide technical guidance on drawings, assemblies, and testing techniques.
• Assist production management and engineering in improvement activities.
• Train operators on quality procedures and inspection techniques.
• Report issues and opportunities to engineers and management.

Moog's Military Aircraft Group has an immediate opening for an OSV Quality Assurance Auditor. Reporting to our site Quality Manager, this on-site position is at our aerospace plant in Torrance, CA.

To be considered for the OSV QA Auditor role, here's what you'll need to bring with you:

• Associates degree (vocational, professional, or advanced) in a Technological field. Successful completion of external technical education and training (e.g. Completion of an Apprenticeship program) may be evaluated and count as equivalency of a Technical Associates Degree
• Minimum 2 years’ experience with precision machines and/or assembly and test processes
• Practical experience and technical knowledge of a wide variety of gages, measuring and test equipment used in inspection of precision machined parts, approval of new fixturing and tooling, understand and provide guidance for Acceptance Test requirements
• Proficiency in the use and understanding of measuring and test equipment
• Experience with Audit Documentation & Presentation
• Familiar with manufacturing and inspection processes

It’d Be Great If You Had

• Experience in the aerospace industry
• AS9100D Certified, internal audit a plus
• Experience in Assembly and Test
• Knowledge of military and government specifications
• Experience with SAP

As An OSV QA Auditor, You Will

• Plan and perform audits in accordance with the OSV Process as a means to determine process effectiveness; operator and technician competency; and the ability of the operator to produce conforming parts to gain maintain authority to inspect their own work.
• Provide assistance and support with Business Systems and product audits when necessary.
• Sample inspect parts during audits using inspection techniques and layouts of varying complexity.
• Provide assistance to production management, operators, all engineering disciplines to support improvement and investigative activities and to ensure workmanship standards are met
• Provide technical guidance relative to interpretation and application of complex engineering drawings, work instructions, assembly techniques, nonstandard inspection techniques, unique gaging and test equipment application, and performing formal training of personnel.
• Support analytical and statistical applications by assisting production employees involved in control charting activities and identifying potential sources of variation.
• Assist in problem solving activities to provide evaluation support for identified nonconformities.
• Assist in the training operators to Quality procedures and inspection techniques.
• Report issues and improvement opportunities to responsible Engineers and Management
• Assess risk in various manufacturing processes by assessing process inputs of man, material, machine, method, measurement, and environment.
• Investigate into unwanted variation of these process inputs has a direct impact on the uniformity and conformity of product to Moog’s engineering specifications.

Salary Range Transparency

Torrance, CA $30.00-$40.00 Hourly

The base salary range represents the low and high end of the Moog salary range for this position in the given work location. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range(s) listed is just one component of Moog's total compensation package for employees.
