JSI is seeking a Traveling OSP Inspector to oversee fiber optic construction across the U.S., reporting on-site at Monument, Oregon projects as required. You will collaborate with crews, project managers, and permitting agencies to ensure build quality and adherence to engineering plans.

The role emphasizes traveling 100%, outdoor work in varied weather, and strong attention to detail. A HS diploma/GED and relevant inspection experience are required.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 1-3 years in OSP RUS telecom inspection, construction, or engineering preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy required.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, maps, staking sheets and prints.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Excel; basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor daily construction activities to ensure fiber placement and adherence to engineering prints and customer specs for aerial, buried, and underground builds.
  • Verify cable and equipment placement, GPS coordinates, and as-built data; ensure correct handhole/pedestal installation.
  • Support schedule coordination, workflow monitoring, and cost tracking efforts.
  • Resolve design and staking issues; interpret company guidelines for specific applications when needed.
  • Prepare and submit daily reports and project documentation.
  • Communicate with landowners, permitting agencies, and internal departments.

*This project is located in Monument, Oregon. Candidates will be expected to report on-site up to 100% of the time. JSI invites you to join our team as a traveling Outside Plant (OSP) Inspector on our Fiber Design & Implementation team, where you'll play a critical role in advancing broadband and telecommunications initiatives that expand connectivity and drive digital inclusion - while advancing your career within a mission-driven, growth-focused organization. We are seeking candidates willing to travel to support projects in Oregon.

Position Overview:

As a travelingOSP Inspector, you will be responsible for overseeing fiber optic cable construction to ensure accuracy, quality, and adherence to engineering plans. In this role, you will collaborate closely with construction crews, project managers, and permitting agencies to support the successful buildout of fiber infrastructure across the U.S.

Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • 1-3 years of experience in OSP RUS telecom inspection, construction, and/or engineering preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, maps, staking sheets, and construction prints.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, and basic computer proficiency.
  • Physically able to work outdoors in varied weather and terrain; capable of standing, walking, bending, and climbing.
  • Must be willing to travel 100% and work overtime as required.
  • A reliable vehicle is required; we pay mileage.
  • This position requires U.S. citizenship or Permanent Resident status.
