Job summary

Fiber Network Services, Inc. is seeking an experienced Construction Coordinator to support our Blairs, VA team and oversee diverse HFC/broadband projects. The role involves pre/post-construction walkouts, BOM creation, NTP packaging, permitting coordination and final invoicing for contractors.

Ideal candidates will have 2+ years in outside plant construction, strong leadership, and excellent organization. A valid driver's license and ability to pass a drug screen are required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED is required.
• 2+ years hands-on experience in HFC or similar outside network plant construction preferred.
• Knowledge of local dig laws is a plus.
• Ability to mentor subcontractors and vendors.
• Customer service mindset to interpret and deliver client needs.
• Must pass drug screening and background check.

Responsibilities

• Perform walkouts pre/post-construction.
• Verify as-builts.
• Troubleshoot build-out issues in the field.
• Identify safe working conditions in outdoor right-of-way.
• Identify permitting requirements as needed.
• Create a bill of materials (BOM).
• Compile notice-to-proceed (NTP) packages for contractors.
• Scope, plan and execute HFC projects with contractors; manage lifecycles, payments, invoicing.
• Quality control of project work.
• Provide weekly reports to management.

Fiber Network Services is a communications contractor offering a full range of fiber optic and cable network services. Servicing Cox Communications, Comcast Cable, Segra and Suddenlink in the States of Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, North Carolina, Tennessee, Florida, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and in Washington D.C., we are a trusted resource for cabling and maintaining high-speed internet connectivity via fiber optic and coaxial systems.

FNS is looking to hire an experienced In-house Construction Coordinator to work with our Blairs, VA team. You will be involved and have oversight on many types of HFC/Broadband projects including: BAU, spans, relos, Node splits, Newbuild, Fiber to the Home and Passive Optical Network Overlay, etc.

Job Responsibilities (but not limited to)

• Perform walkouts pre/post-construction
• Verify as-builts
• Troubleshoot any build-out issues in the field
• Able to identify safe working conditions in an outside right-of-way environment
• Identify permitting requirements as needed
• Creating a bill of materials (BOM)
• Compile notice-to-proceed (NTP) packages for contractors
• Able to scope, plan and execute HFC projects to contractors and be able to track and manage project lifecycles, pay contractors, and submit to final client invoicing.
• Able to perform effective quality control of all project work performed
• Provide weekly reports to management on construction activity
• Follow-up with city municipalities regarding permitting issues

Job Requirements

• High School diploma or G.E.D
• Must have 2+ years of hands-on experience in HFC or similar outside network plant construction
• Educated in local area dig laws is preferred
• Familiarity with underground drilling is preferred
• Strong leadership skills to mentor and influence subcontractors and vendors
• Customer service acumen to interpret, communicate, and help deliver client needs
• Impressive ability to organize and prioritize projects
• Computer proficiency with Microsoft tools to create, manage, and present data and reporting to various stakeholders and management
• Interested and able to work overtime occasionally to meet project demands
• Must be able to walk extensively, sit, stand, and climb stairs throughout the day
• Possession of a valid driver's license
• Ability to pass a drug screeningAbility to pass a background check
