Job summary

Hanger Clinic in Tallahassee, FL, is seeking an Orthotics & Prosthetics Technician to fabricate and repair orthotic and prosthetic devices. You will utilize various hand tools and work closely with clinicians and patients to ensure optimal outcomes.

Orthotics & Prosthetics Technician

About the Position

This role offers hands‑on fabrication of a variety of orthotic and prosthetic devices in a small workshop setting. You will collaborate closely with clinicians and patients, adjusting and repairing devices and fabricating orthoses and their components. The position relies heavily on fabrication processes, hand skills, and proficiency with hand tools. Experience with band saws, drill presses, vacuum systems, heat guns, blades, speed routers, and other small hand tools is required.

Your Impact

• Use appropriate hand tools to perform fabrication and repair of orthotic and/or prosthetic devices.
• Perform ordering, receiving, and other inventory tasks as assigned.
• May fit and deliver prefabricated and off‑the‑shelf orthoses such as cervical orthoses, pressure gradient hose, and trusses.
• Provide education to patients on the application, use, care, and expected outcomes for DME products as indicated by the physician instructions and manufacturer recommendations.
• Contact vendors to order orthotic fabrication materials and maintain inventory of items used during the fabrication process.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• A valid driver's license and driving record within the standards outlined within Hanger's Motor Vehicle Safety Policy and Procedures.
• Technical training school or 2 years experience preferred.

Additional Success Factors

• Knowledge and hand skills needed to fabricate and repair prostheses (artificial limbs) and orthoses (orthopedic braces) according to patient measurements, casts, and in compliance with a physician's prescription.
• Mechanical ability and hand‑eye coordination to use laboratory tools safely and effectively.
