Job summary

UT Health San Antonio seeks an Orthotic and Prosthetic Clinical Technician Lead to supervise the fabrication and repair of orthoses and prostheses under the direction of the Manager. You will guide the O&P staff on fabrication timelines and processes.

Requires seven years in an Orthotic/Prosthetic Lab with supervisory experience, and strong expertise in lab equipment, CAD/CAM, thermoforming, and a collaborative leadership style to improve workflows and patient outcomes.

Qualifications

• Seven (7) years’ experience in an Orthotic/Prosthetic Lab; supervisory experience preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy related to orthotics and prosthetics.
• Expert knowledge in operating lab machinery and using lab tools.

Responsibilities

• Supervise fabrication of orthoses and prostheses including pouring molds, rectifying positive models, CAD/CAM operation, thermoforming, laminating, contouring, sewing, gluing, soldering, welding, riveting, assembling, repairing, and refurbishing devices.
• Manage ordering and receiving of materials to maintain inventory for fabrication.
• Inspect machinery and perform maintenance to ensure safe operation.
• Maintain quality control and participate in meetings; track project due dates to ensure timely completion.
• Keep materials and expenses log; coordinate PTO for techs and submit requests to Manager.
• Provide education to patients on application, use and care of devices per physician instructions and manufacturer recommendations.
• Coordinate training and development for Lab Technicians; place material orders and track vendor payments.
