Job summary

UCSF Health in Oakland seeks an Orthoptist to provide patient services under direct ophthalmologist supervision. You will support pediatric ophthalmology patients, adults with binocular vision issues, and strabismus, as well as assist with optometry screening clinics.

Under general supervision of the Clinic Manager and guided by the policies and procedures of UCSF Medical Center, Ambulatory Services, and the Department of Ophthalmology, the Orthoptist will provide patient services under direct or indirect ophthalmologist supervision. The Orthoptist will see patients under the supervision of the attending pediatric ophthalmologist and will provide patient care and technical support for pediatric ophthalmology patients, adults with binocular vision problems, eye movement disorders and strabismus, as well as optometry screening clinics.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree
• Flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations

Preferred Qualifications

• Demonstrates proficiency in electronic medical record documentation
• Two (2) years of experience as an Orthoptist in pediatric ophthalmology and/or adult strabismus clinic

Required Licenses/Certifications

• CPR/BLS through AHA
• Orthoptist Certification through The American Orthoptic Council within two years of hire and maintained throughout tenure
