Inova Orthopedics - Springfield is seeking a dedicated Patient Access Associate I for a full-time day shift, Monday-Friday, 8 hours, within office hours 7:30a-4:00p. The position will float to Woodbridge to cover PTO as needed.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED.
• Experience: 1 year of customer service or 1 year in a medical setting (Associates degree in lieu of experience).
• Strong communication and ability to explain insurance benefits and patient liability.

Responsibilities

• Works independently to complete assignments with minimal supervision and improves workflow efficiency.
• Communicates scheduling changes to patients, staff, physicians and patient representatives.
• Explains insurance benefits and patient liability using appropriate communication styles.
• Obtains and validates insurance information via online payer verification systems.
• Coordinates with other departments to assist or transport patients requiring special attention.
• Educates patients on applications for alternative payment sources for healthcare services.
• Reports safety hazards and protects guests until help arrives if necessary.
