Job summary

The Orthopedic Technician at Cooper University Health Care supports the direct patient care activities of the orthopedic surgeons and providers in the ambulatory practice. The technologist coordinates casting, bracing, DME, wound care, suture removal, and manages supplies and equipment to facilitate timely care.

They assist medical staff with orthopedic procedures, promote patient education and safety, and help optimize resource use while ensuring high-quality service and teamwork.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Completion of an accredited orthopedic technology program preferred.

Short Description

The Orthopedic Technician supports the direct patient care clinical activity of the orthopedic surgeons and providers in the orthopedic ambulatory practices. The technologist is responsible to coordinate all activities related to casting, bracing, DME, wound care, suture/staple removal, order and maintaining of supplies, inventory, and care of equipment. Direct responsibility for application, removal and adjustment of casts and soft goods. Provides assistance to the medical staff with orthopedic procedures whenever needed to expedite the patient care process. Responsibilities include promoting patient education and safety, enhancing customer satisfaction, demonstrating understanding of resource utilization and completing all other duties as assigned.

License/Certification Requirements

• Completion of a Certified Orthopedic Technology or Registered- Orthopedic Technologist training program, preferred.

Special Requirements

• Completion of an accredited medical assistant program.
