Job summary

Orlando Health Jewett Orthopedic Institute in Zephyrhills, FL, is seeking an Orthopedic Tech/Medical Assistant, Certified. The role is full time, Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, in the Orthopedics department.

Responsibilities include assisting with patient transport, applying casts and braces as ordered by physicians, and ensuring attendance and policy compliance. Certification, BLS, and MA training are required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Successful completion of Medical Assistant training from an approved technical school (or 1 year of verifiable CMA experience) is required.
  • Maintains current BLS Healthcare Provider certification and CMA/MA credentials from an approved agency.

  • Assists with transport of patients.
  • Assembles and applies different types of casts and braces per physician orders.
  • Maintains regular attendance and compliance with Orlando Health policies.

Responsibilities
Essential Functions
  • Assists with transport of patients.
  • Performs any variation of the job that is directly related to the function of an orthopedic technician.
  • Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
  • Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
Other Related Functions
  • Assists the orthopedic surgeons requested.
  • Participates in Quality Assurance (QA)/Quality Indicator (QI) as assigned.
  • Performs patient rounds, charting, charging, regular cleaning of equipment and in service education that is directly related to the orthopedic technician service.
Qualifications
Education/Training

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Licensure/Certification

Maintains current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification.

Successful completion of Medical Assistant training from an approved technical school (or at least one (1) year of verifiable and applicable work experience as a Certified Medical Assistant in a patient care setting) required.

  • National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) by National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) (www.ncctinc.com)
  • Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA) or Nationally Registered Certified Advanced Medical Assistant (NRCAMA) by the National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP) (www.nahpusa.com)
  • Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) by American Medical Technologists (AMT) (www.amt1.com) , the American Registry of Medical Assistants (ARMA) (www.arma-cert.org), or by American Allied Health (AAH) (www.americanalliedhealth.com)
