Job summary

LOUISIANA ORTHOPAEDIC SPECIALISTS LLC is seeking a Medical Assistant to support clinicians by coordinating patient flow, taking vitals, and preparing patients for visits in a fast-paced orthopedics clinic.

Responsibilities include rooming patients, updating demographics, processing prescriptions, coordinating tests, and maintaining clean exam rooms. Strong communication with clinicians and patients is essential, along with HIPAA compliance.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of health care field and orthopedics.
• Knowledge of patient confidentiality and HIPAA regulations.
• Back-office skills: injections, suture removal, and Durable Medical Equipment orders.
• Familiarity with patient care policies and clinic procedures.

Responsibilities

• Facilitates communication between patient and provider.
• Rooms patients, takes vitals, reviews intake paperwork for completion, and prepares the patient for the visit.
• Assists patients in receiving the appropriate level of care, including scheduling patient appointments.
• Maintains exam room appearance; rooms should be restocked and cleaned as needed.
• Assist the provider with preparing injections, removing dressings, preparing prescriptions and completing medical forms.
• Communicates effectively with physicians, practice managers, clinical staff and external customers.
• Prepares patient charts for clinic visits including updating demographics and verifying information.
• Processes all requests for patient prescriptions and records drug details in charts.
• Forwards incoming documents for physician signature prior to scanning into the chart.
• Prepares charts for clinic visits and prints clinic schedules.
• Demonstrates current competencies for the position.
