Job summary

The University of Iowa Health Care is seeking a Medical Assistant II for the North Liberty Hospital Orthopedic Clinic. The role supports patient flow, basic clinical tasks and clerical duties within an urgent care setting, under supervision.

This is a 100% on-campus position with a full-time schedule and competitive benefits. Qualifications include MA certification/registration or completion of a recognized MA program, and experience with MA elements like history taking, pharmacology and data

Qualifications

• Certification OR registration as Medical Assistant or completion of a recognized one-year Medical Assistant program.
• Health care program with MA elements including pathophysiology, terminology, basic pharmacology and medication administration.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate smooth patient flow in the clinic with patients, families and staff.
• Assist in physical examinations, collect history, records, allergies and immunizations.
• Manage medical records to ensure accurate data for appointments.
• Administer routine medications not requiring advanced nursing judgment.
• Perform routine lab tests, ECG, and x-ray work as needed.
• Identify vaccination needs for patient populations.
• Handle clerical tasks including calls, scheduling, and information sharing.
• Assist in obtaining insurance prior authorizations.
