Job summary

Atlantic Health System is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant I for full-time hours in Morristown, NJ. The role supports orthopedic surgery clinics, assisting with patient intake, vital signs, medication administration under physician supervision, and coordination of referrals.

The position requires a high school diploma and national ACCMA certification. Preferred candidates may have an associate's degree and 1 year of healthcare experience.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• National Certification CCMA from: NHA, AAMA, NAHP, ARMA, AMT, AMCA or NCCT.
• Preferred: Associate's degree in Medical Care or related field.
• 1 year of experience in Health Care services.

Responsibilities

• Handles patient intake, updates medical records, and administers appropriate screening tools.
• Records medical information and test results, conducts patient interviews, takes and records vital signs, collects specimens, and administers medication under physician supervision.
• Assists with walk-in and scheduled clinic visits, ensures verification and recording of clinical data and adherence to quality standards.
• Monitors environment for compliance with continual accreditation readiness and evaluates practice schedule for changes or updates.
• Demonstrates knowledge of the certified medical assistant scope of practice, incorporating elements of holistic patient-centered and team-based care.
• Guides patients through the health care system and helps patients arrive at scheduled appointments on time.
• Provides emotional support related to the patient's clinical situation in accordance with the patient's plan of care.
• Assists with referrals of patients to the appropriate specialist for diagnosis or treatment.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
