Job summary

Spire Orthopedic Partners in Danbury, CT is seeking a Medical Assistant to support providers in an outpatient clinic setting. The role includes rooming patients, documenting medical history and chief complaints, and collecting vitals while maintaining patient confidentiality.

Qualifications

• General knowledge of office procedures and computer systems.

• Orthopedic and/or casting experience preferred.

• High School Diploma or equivalent

Responsibilities

• Prepares patients for examination and treatment. Collects detailed and accurate patient history.
• Prepares and maintains exam rooms with necessary instruments, equipment and supplies.
• Follows up with patient on physicians current patient care notes or instructions.
• Provides general assistance, education and information to patient questions.
• Performs post-operative wound care, suture removal, dressing change, cast removal, cast application and splint application.
• Assists physicians in setup and performance of medical procedures under the direction of physician or nurse manager.
• Maintains DME supplies.
• Responsible for maintaining patient confidentiality.
• Prepares, cleans and stocks examination rooms. Assures surfaces are clear and puts away any articles that were left out and replenishes missing stock in drawers and cabinets.
• Unpacks new supply deliveries and stores away items as directed.
• Assists members of clinical support staff and physicians with all duties as necessary and appropriate. (includes patient care, post‑op phone follow‑up calls and other patient phone calls, medication updates)
• Documents all phone calls and actions appropriately in EMR.
• Identifies OSHA issues and communicates for correction.
• Follows all HIPAA regulations as instructed.
• Follows ONS policies and procedures.
• Performs other duties/projects as assigned.
