Job summary

MercyOne Genesis is seeking a BC/BE Orthopedic Hand Surgeon to join our expanding orthopedic team. You will help design and elevate a comprehensive Hand & Upper Extremity program from day one, with strong institutional support and dedicated OR access.

The role offers autonomy to shape the service line, work across hand, wrist, forearm, and elbow pathology, and collaborate closely with emergency medicine, primary care, anesthesia, hospitalists, and therapy teams to achieve excellent outcomes.

Qualifications

• MD or DO with ABOS certification or eligibility.
• Fellowship trained in Hand & Upper Extremity Surgery.
• Ability to obtain Iowa and Illinois medical licenses.
• Strong clinical and surgical skill set with a passion for comprehensive hand and upper extremity care.
• Excellent communication and team collaboration skills.
• Open to graduating fellows and experienced surgeons.

This is an exciting opportunity to be a foundational member of a new and rapidly growing orthopedic practice—with the ability to design, develop, and elevate a comprehensive Hand & Upper Extremity program from day one. We are looking for a fellowship-trained surgeon passionate about the full spectrum of hand and upper extremity care, including complex fractures, nerve and tendon injuries, microsurgery, arthritis care, and elective procedures. With strong institutional support, dedicated OR access, and robust APP coverage, you’ll have the resources you need to build a thriving, high-demand practice.

Compensation & Benefits

• Two-year guaranteed salary: $739,410, with production beginning at 10,650 wRVUs
• Straight production model beginning year 3
• Potential to earn $1M+ annually
• $100,000 recruitment incentive
