Job summary

UC Irvine is seeking an athletic trainer to support physicians, assist with patient intake and records, and help with daily clinic operations. The role emphasizes collaboration, patient education, and hands-on care across orthopedic and sports medicine contexts.

Responsibilities include preoperative prep, casting orders, gait training, home exercise program instruction, and guiding other athletic trainers in rehabilitation for injuries at all levels; strong English communication and MS Office

Qualifications

• Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties.
• Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job.
• Manual therapy skills applicable to orthopedics and sports medicine.
• Knowledge of athletic injury prevention and the administration of therapeutic modalities, devices and rehabilitation techniques.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Demonstrated experience using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Athletic Trainer Certification (ATC).
• Ability to work as a collaborative team member.
• Ability to read and understand medical terminology; problem solve, prioritize and organize work.
• Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System.

Responsibilities

• Provide physician support and outreach; assist with patient intake and records.
• Assist with patient prep, education, post-operative procedures and DME fitting.
• Conduct biomechanical assessments and gait training.
• Provide in home exercise program instruction.
• Provide casting services ordered by physician and assist with clinic duties.
• Lead athletic trainers in rehabilitation across injury levels.
