Job summary

Mortenson Dental Partners is seeking an Orthodontic Assistant for a temporary, PRN position at our Louisville, KY location. The role involves assisting the orthodontist, taking X-rays, impressions, and maintaining a clean, efficient clinical area.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent, dental assistant and radiology certifications, and a commitment to patient-focused care in a fast-paced setting. Salary is up to $22 per hour, with benefits and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Dental assistant certification required or able to provide proof.
• Must obtain radiology certification within required timeframe.

Responsibilities

• Delivers clinically excellent dental care through education, quality, and treatment. Assists the dentist via taking X-rays and other dental tests as directed.
• Helps ensure efficient operations by seeking patient referrals, maintaining equipment, and posting charges accurately.
• Follows CDC and OSHA guidelines for safety and infection control.
• Takes impressions, takes X-rays, changes wires/brackets, and provides oral hygiene instructions.
• Completes clinical notes according to practice guidelines before dismissing the patient.
• Prepares treatment area, sterilizes instruments, and assists Orthodontist during procedures.

• Helps ensure efficient and profitable operations by seeking patient referrals, maintaining equipment, utilizing supplies cost-effectively, and posting patient charges accurately.
• Follows CDC and OSHA guidelines for safety and infection control.
• Takes impressions, takes x-rays, changes out wires and brackets, and gives oral hygiene instructions.
• Completes all clinical notes according to practice guidelines before dismissing the patient.
• Prepares treatment area for patients by following prescribed procedures and protocols. Provides instrumentation by sterilizing and delivering instruments to the treatment area; positioning instruments for the Orthodontist's access; suctioning; passing instruments; and other duties as needed.
