Job summary

First United Methodist Church in Frankfort, KY is seeking an Organist to provide musical leadership for our traditional worship life. The role is 10–15 hours per week and encompasses Sunday worship, choir rehearsals, worship planning, and special services.

The Organist will accompany choirs and instrumentalists, select music in coordination with worship leadership, and oversee organ/piano registrations and maintenance as needed.

Qualifications

• Proficiency on pipe organ and piano.
• Strong sight-reading skills.
• Knowledge of music theory and the ability to improvise or adapt music as appropriate.
• Experience accompanying choirs, vocalists, and instrumentalists.
• Familiarity with traditional Christian worship and hymnody is preferred.
• Formal musical training and/or significant professional experience is preferred.
• Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills.
• Reliability and the ability to prepare consistently for weekly worship and rehearsals.

Responsibilities

• Provide organ and piano music for the Sunday traditional worship service.

Job description

The Organist provides musical leadership and support for the traditional worship life of First United Methodist Church of Frankfort.

The position is approximately 10–15 hours per week and includes responsibilities related to Sunday worship, choir rehearsals, worship planning and preparation, and special services and events.

Our traditional worship service takes place each Sunday at 11:00 a.m. in the Sanctuary.
