Job summary

Glynwood Center for Regional Food and Farming is seeking a Vegetable Apprentice for a 9-month, full-time program starting March 15, 2027. Apprentices work in our certified organic vegetable operation and participate in planting, care, harvest, and sales with a strong focus on hands-on farming and farm management training.

The role includes substantial classroom education, weekly field walks, and collaboration with the Hudson Valley Apprenticeship network.

Qualifications

• Must have worked at least one full season on a commercial vegetable operation
• High school diploma or GED or equivalent is required
• Clear English communication, both written and spoken
• COVID-19 vaccination is required
• Valid US Driver’s License in good standing

Responsibilities

• Greenhouse seeding and management
• Transplanting and direct seeding
• Hand weeding, hoeing, and other weed management tasks
• Harvesting
• Washing and packing
• Record keeping
• Supervising CSA pickups
• Compost making
• Machine and tool maintenance
