Job summary

Gift of Hope Organ & Tissue Donor Network is seeking staff to assist in surgical recovery of organs for transplantation from deceased donors, and to support research tissue recovery. The role requires operating room experience with sterile technique and collaboration across hospital teams.

Compensation ranges from $37.89 to $42.63 per hour, with full-time benefits, PTO, retirement plan, tuition assistance, and wellness stipends included. Travel within Illinois and NW Indiana may be required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year in an operating room environment with aseptic/sterile technique.
• Completion of CST or Surgical Technologist or First Assist preferred.
• Other candidates may be considered on an individual basis.

Responsibilities

• Assist recovering surgeon in the surgical recovery of deceased donor organs for transplantation.
• Recover organs for research and coordinate the donation process with internal and external partners.
• Document required clinical information and input perfusion-related data into DonorNet as required.
• Package and label organs for transplantation or research.
• Perform surgical dissection and preparation of deceased donor kidneys for machine perfusion.
• Monitor kidneys during hypothermic machine perfusion and ensure sterile techniques.
