Job summary

Tennessee Donor Services is seeking an In-house Recovery Coordinator to serve as the onsite Organ Recovery Coordinator at the University of Tennessee Medical Center (UTMC) in Knoxville. The role leverages a nursing ICU background to facilitate organ donation with clinical teams and surgeons.

The ideal candidate will have an RN license, critical care experience, strong multitasking and communication skills, and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Two plus years of experience in a critical care setting.
• RN license required.
• Ability to exercise independent judgement and multitask.
• Strong teamwork, interpersonal, communication, and conflict management skills.
• Valid Driver’s License (with ability to pass MVR)

Responsibilities

• Evaluates patient suitability for organ donation by reviewing medical records and consultation with medical staff.
• Coordinates organ placement and allocation with transplant programs and surgeons.
• Coordinates and assists in the surgical recovery of organs and peri-operative management, including logistics such as arranging transportation, ensuring packaging, and preparing lab specimens for shipment.
• Provides support to donor families and conducts medical/social history interviews.
• Partners with hospital leadership to improve donation metrics, protocols, and policy, and participates in committees to influence opportunities.
• Develops and presents hospital educational programs and status reports based on strategic goals.
• Other duties as assigned.
