Ohio Air National Guard is seeking an Ordnance Equipment Mechanic (WG-6641-10) to support munitions operations, stockpile management, and inspections. The role covers maintenance of facilities, storage, and shipment preparations.
You will coordinate with multiple sections to ensure proper handling of munitions, maintain inventory integrity, and contribute to mission readiness through detailed documentation and compliance with safety standards.
This National Guard position is for a ORDNANCE EQUIPMENT MECHANIC, Position Description Number D2573000 and is part of the 178 LRS, Ohio Air National Guard. The purpose of this position is to provide munitions support to the state and designated agencies in support of their taskings.
Ohio Air National Guard Membership is required. Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service. Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation. May be required to successfully complete a trial period. Participation in direct deposit is mandatory. MILITARY REQUIREMENTS: Compatible military grade and assignment required within one year of the effective date of placement. This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard. Applicants who are not currently a member of the Ohio Air National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership. Compatible Military Assignments: Open to any AFSC, eligible to cross-train. Other requirements: 1. Must be able to obtain/maintain appropriate security clearance. 2. For positions requiring the operation of motor vehicles, candidates must have a valid state driver's license for the state in which they live or are principally employed. 3. For positions requiring a security clearance (Secret or Top Secret) the applicant must possess or be able to obtain a clearance within one year of appointment.
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience or training which has provided the candidate with the knowledge and application of mechanical and electrical principles and the skill to perform intricate repair and adjustment of hydraulic and pneumatic components and devices.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Experience or training in repairing, rebuilding, modifying, and testing a variety of major subassemblies. Experience in diagnosing malfunctions and determining repair in major components consisting of numerous assemblies, interrelated electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic assemblies, and components. Experience in the use of precision measurement equipment. Experience interpreting and applying a variety of technical manuals and similar published materials.

***If serving under an incentive contract, termination of that incentive(s) will occur effective one day prior to your AGR, Permanent Military Technician, or Indefinite Military Technician start date. Temporary Military Technicians will have their incentive terminated if their tour exceeds 179 days in a continuous 12-month period.***
