Job summary

SpaceX is hiring for an Orbital Tube Welder, Manifolds, in Hawthorne, CA. You will set up and operate COPV manifolds welding systems, read blueprints, prepare tubing, perform pressure tests, and inspect welds with borescope equipment.

The job requires a high school diploma or equivalent and at least 1 year in welding/manufacturing or a related certificate. Shift flexibility and overtime are expected in a fast-paced aerospace setting.

Qualifications

• 1+ year welding, machining or manufacturing experience or a certificate from an accredited trade program in A&P, manufacturing, welding, and/or electronics.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate COPV Manifolds orbital welding system according to procedures.
• Work from blueprints and approved drawings.
• Cut and prepare tubing and fittings for welding.
• Perform system setup and pressure testing per specifications.
• Inspect assemblies using borescope inspection system.
• Maintain organized toolbox and a clean work area.
• Handle COPV bottle lifting operations with an overhead crane.
• Able to work in a team-oriented environment.

ORBITAL TUBE WELDER, MANIFOLDS

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Follow established procedures to set up and operate the Composite Overwrap Pressure Vessel (COPV) Manifolds orbital welding system
• Work from blueprints and approved drawings
• Cut and prepare all tubing and fittings used in the welding operation
• Perform setup of the welding system
• Perform pressure testing operations of weld assemblies per specifications
• Inspect all completed assemblies using the borescope inspection system
• Maintain an organized toolbox for welding system operations
• Maintain a clean work area
• Safely perform COPV bottle lifting operations using an overhead crane
• Able to work in a strong team-oriented environment

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school diploma or equivalency certificate
• 1+ year of welding, machining or manufacturing experience OR certificate from an accredited trade skills program in A&P, manufacturing, welding, and/or electronics

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

• Certification from a formal orbital weld training program
• 3+ years of orbital welding experience
• TIG welding and clean room experience
• Experience working in an aerospace manufacturing environment

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Must be able to work all shifts, overtime, and/or weekends and potential holidays as needed
• Must be able to work any of the following shifts:
• Monday to Friday: 4:30 AM - 3:00 PM
• Monday to Friday: 1:00 PM – 11:30 AM
• Able to lift up to 25 lbs. unassisted
• Able to stand for extended periods: 8-10 hours min
• Able to stoop, bend, crawl, and being able to maneuver in tight spaces

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

Pay range:

• Orbital Tube Welder/Level 1: $23.00 - $27.00/hour
• Orbital Tube Welder/Level 2: $26.00 - $32.50/hour
• Orbital Tube Welder/Level 3: $31.00 - $38.00/hour

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.
