Alcm is seeking an Organist to provide musical support for church services, including regular Sunday services and special occasions. You will accompany the choir, assist in hymn and service music selection, and coordinate with the Worship & Music committee.

The role requires preparing organ/piano music for bulletins and assisting in sound system setup for services. Vacation coverage and special services are part of the responsibilities, with an employment contract offered on a yearly basis.

Qualifikationen

Job Description: Organist

Position Type: PAID

The Organist provides musical support for the various church services

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Responsible for church service music on Sunday mornings year-round for regular services as well as other special services to include Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and Christmas Eve
• Provide church service music for other special services including Thanksgiving Eve, Wednesday Lenten Services and Easter Vigil if requested.
• Accompany the choir at scheduled rehearsals
• Accompany the children’s program as well as the Sunday morning children’s songs prior to the Service as necessary
• Assist the Pastor / Service Leader with the selection of hymns / service music as requested
• Assist the Choir Director in coordinating and planning music for services
• Prepare and provide agreed upon hymns / service music to Church Secretary for inclusion in bulletin
• Prepare and provide organ/piano music (ex. Prelude / postlude, etc.) to church secretary for inclusion in bulletin.
• Be an active member of the Worship and Music committee
• Assist in the set-up of the sound system for outdoor services as necessary and is responsible for the final set-up, monitoring and control of the sound system during the service
• Play for weddings, funerals and memorial services when available.

As needed, coordinate the following activities:

• Report on any repairs that are needed to the organ and/or pianos to the Worship & Music committee chairperson
• Arrange for a capable supply organist during vacations or absences and communicate coverage to the Treasurer and Choir Director
• Participate in continuing education events to improve the worship life at St. John’s

Payment / contract structure

An employment contract will be provided on a yearly basis.

Compensation for weddings, funerals and memorial services will be provided by the wedding couple, funeral director, or family of the deceased respectively.
