Job summary

Greater Ohio Oral & Facial Surgery is seeking a skilled Surgical Assistant to join our team of oral and maxillofacial surgeons. The role supports surgeons during procedures, ensures patient safety, and maintains surgical workflow in a busy clinic.

Responsibilities include recording patient records, assisting during exams, imaging, documenting histories, and ensuring consent forms are complete. Strong communication and confidentiality are essential in this position.

Qualifications

• Certification as Surgical Assistant or relevant training preferred.
• Experience in oral or dental surgery settings preferred.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills.
• Knowledge of infection control and operating room protocols.
• Ability to maintain patient confidentiality per HIPAA.
• High attention to detail and ability to multitask.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records.
• Assist physicians during examinations and procedures.
• Perform diagnostic imaging, including X-rays, as needed.
• Review and document patient medical histories.
• Ensure consent forms are properly completed and signed.
• Prepare and process patient prescriptions with accuracy.
• Monitor vital signs (BP, EKG, pulse oximetry).
• Document anesthesia records and patient charting.
• Maintain patient airways during sedation and assist with suctioning.
• Provide post-operative monitoring and hand-off to caregiver.
• Prepare and sanitize surgical and examination rooms.
• Assist with ongoing surgical procedures as needed.
• Uphold HIPAA and patient confidentiality.
• Support clinic operations and patient flow as directed by Clinical Manager.
• Uphold infection control and safety guidelines.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent

DAANCE certification

Nitrous Oxide certification

CPR certification

Dental assisting certification
