Job summary

Ideal Dental in Orlando is seeking a part-time Oral Surgery Dental Assistant to join a clinician-led, growing dental group. You will support the oral surgeon with chairside procedures, instrument prep, patient comfort, and post-operative care.

Qualifications

• Active Registered Dental Assistant License is required.
• Current CPR certification is required.
• Minimum of 1 year of oral surgery experience.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and sterilize surgical instruments, materials and equipment.
• Prepare patients for surgery and explain procedures to help them feel at ease.
• Provide chairside assistance to the oral surgeon and pass instruments efficiently.
• Maintain a clear surgical field using suction hoses and equipment.
• Monitor patient vital signs and anesthesia levels.
• Provide detailed post-operative instructions for pain management and healing.
• Clean and disinfect the operating room and instruments after procedures.
• Schedule follow-up appointments and handle related administrative tasks.
• Monitor and replenish surgical supplies and inventory.
• Operate X-ray and 3D scanning equipment to take and process radiographs.

What You’ll Do:

• Prepare and sterilize surgical instruments, materials, and equipment.

• Prepare patients for surgery, including applying topical anesthetics and explaining the procedure to help them feel at ease.

• Provide "chairside" assistance to the oral surgeon, anticipating their needs and efficiently passing instruments.

• Maintain a clear surgical field using suction hoses and other equipment.

• Monitor patient vital signs (e.g., blood pressure, heart rate) and anesthesia levels.

• Provide patients with detailed post-operative instructions for managing pain, preventing infection, and promoting healing.

• Clean and disinfect the operating room and instruments after the procedure.

• Schedule follow-up appointments and handle other administrative tasks as needed.

• Monitor and replenish surgical supplies and inventory.

• Operate X-ray and 3D scanning equipment to take and process dental radiographs.

• Preparing treatment rooms

• Assisting with conscious and iv sedation

• Performing X-rays

• Charting existing and recommended treatments

• Performing other duties as required to support the office and oral surgery team

What do you need to have to be a part of our team?

• Active Registered Dental Assistant License

• Current CPR certification

• Minimum of 1 year of specific oral surgery experience

• Must be willing to travel within assigned areas
