Job summary

Fields and Pavelka Oral Surgery, PLLC in Plano, TX seeks a Surgical Assistant to support oral surgeons during procedures, ensuring compassionate, effective patient care in a fast-paced setting. The ideal candidate will understand surgical procedures, communicate well with patients and staff, and uphold safety standards.

Responsibilities include preparing instruments, assisting during surgeries, monitoring vital signs, documenting encounters, and guiding patients with postoperative care.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required (some college preferred).
• Previous clinical experience. Experience as an oral surgery assistant or dental assistant is preferred. (Will train the right candidate.)
• Basic life support certification required. Employer will provide training if the candidate is not current

Responsibilities

• Assist oral surgeons during surgical procedures and prepare instruments, materials, and equipment needed for various surgical procedures
• Monitor patient's vital signs during surgical procedures and provide support as needed
• Document patient encounters and surgical procedures accurately
• Foster a collaborative work environment, promoting teamwork, efficient workflow, and exceptional patient care
• Attend and participate in regular team meetings and adhere to safety standards
• Support monthly office checks: crash carts, fire extinguishers, emergency attestations, x-ray unit calibration, drug inventory, oxygen tanks and controlled substance workflows
