Job summary

Cloud and Things is seeking an Oracle WebLogic Administrator to manage and support Oracle WebLogic, Oracle HTTP Server, cloud services, CI/CD pipelines, Kubernetes platforms, and related middleware for NYC ACS. The consultant will deploy, monitor, patch, and ensure 24x7 production readiness across hybrid environments.

The role requires strong middleware, DevOps, and Oracle technology experience, plus ability to work with cross-functional teams and provide after-hours support as needed.

Qualifications

  • 6+ years middleware administration experience.
  • 3+ years Unix/Linux/Windows Server experience including Solaris, ZFS, and containers.
  • 3+ years DevOps, CI/CD, Kubernetes, AKS/ARO, and cloud services.
  • 3+ years J2EE, Java Servlets, EJB, HTML, JavaScript, JSP, SSL/HTTPS, Oracle DB, Python, and IBM MQ.
  • 1+ years Oracle WebLogic/Oracle products setup and support.
  • Experience with change management processes and TFS.
  • Ability to analyze logs, thread dumps, JVM dumps, and performance metrics.
  • Strong communication and teamwork in high-pressure environments.
  • Willingness for after-hours and weekend support.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, install, configure, secure, maintain, patch, and support Oracle WebLogic, Oracle HTTP Server, cloud services, DevOps environments, CI/CD pipelines, and Kubernetes technologies including AKS and ARO across Solaris/Linux and Windows environments.
  • Monitor application server resource utilization and tune for performance and availability.
  • Analyze application logs, thread dumps, JVM dumps, exception stack traces, and other diagnostic information to identify and resolve production issues.
  • Deploy and troubleshoot JAR, WAR, and EAR files in domain and clustered environments.
  • Configure and deploy HTTPS/SSL certificates to provide secure access.
  • Develop strategies for scheduled server patching and security updates.
  • Ensure environment changes comply with change management policies.
  • Perform disaster recovery testing and document procedures.
  • Collaborate with developers, DBAs, sysadmins, network ops, and security teams.
  • Install and monitor COTS products like Xerox DocuShare, OpenText, Tableau, ESRI ArcGIS.
  • Evaluate new requirements for capacity planning.
  • Set up batch jobs and system alerts for 24x7 operations.
  • Coordinate with Oracle and vendors for issue resolution.
  • Prepare configuration docs and training materials.
  • Provide after-hours support as needed.

Overview:

We are seeking an Oracle WebLogic Administrator who will manage and support Oracle WebLogic, Oracle HTTP Server, cloud services, CI/CD pipelines, Kubernetes platforms, and related application middleware environments for NYC ACS. This role partners with developers, database administrators, system administrators, network operations, security teams, and vendors to maintain secure, stable, highly available production systems.

The consultant will support deployments, performance monitoring, troubleshooting, patching, disaster recovery, change management, production support, documentation, and knowledge transfer across hybrid infrastructure environments.

Duties:
  • Plan, design, install, configure, secure, maintain, patch, and support Oracle WebLogic, Oracle HTTP Server, cloud services, DevOps environments, CI/CD pipelines, and Kubernetes technologies including AKS and ARO across Solaris/Linux and Windows environments.
  • Monitor application server resource utilization and tune thread usage, connection pools, CPU, memory, and associated components to maintain performance and availability.
  • Analyze application logs, thread dumps, JVM dumps, exception stack traces, and other diagnostic information to identify and resolve production issues.
  • Deploy and troubleshoot JAR, WAR, and EAR files in domain and clustered environments.
  • Configure and deploy HTTPS/SSL certificates to provide secure, encrypted access to websites and applications.
  • Develop, validate, and implement strategies for scheduled server patching and security updates.
  • Ensure environment changes comply with established change management policies and procedures.
  • Perform periodic disaster recovery testing and maintain disaster recovery documentation and procedures for application server environments.
  • Collaborate with application developers, database administrators, system administrators, network operations, and security teams on configuration, integration, monitoring, and support activities.
  • Install, configure, manage, and monitor COTS products, including Xerox DocuShare, OpenText, Liquid Office, HP Quality Center, Tableau, ESRI ArcGIS, and other enterprise applications.
  • Evaluate new system and application requirements to support capacity and resource planning.
  • Set up and monitor scheduled batch jobs and system alerts to support 24x7 operations and high availability.
  • Coordinate with Oracle and other vendors to troubleshoot technical issues and escalate major hardware or software problems to senior IT staff.
  • Follow communications protocols for system failures and outages, prepare incident reports, and respond to Service Desk tickets with timely follow-up and resolution.
  • Prepare system configuration, support, and management documentation; provide training and knowledge transfer; maintain application and software inventories; and create and update infrastructure diagrams.
  • Provide after-hours and weekend support as needed.
Mandatory Qualifications:
  • 6+ years experience of middleware administration
  • 3+ years experience of Hands-on experience supporting Oracle Solaris 10/11, Unix/Linux, Windows Server, IIS, Oracle Virtual Environment/LDOMs, ZFS file systems, and zones/containers.
  • 3+ years experience with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, Kubernetes technologies including AKS and ARO, and cloud services.
  • 3+ years experience with J2EE technologies, Java Servlets, EJB, HTML, JavaScript, JSP, SSL/HTTPS, Oracle RDBMS, Unix shell scripting, Python, and IBM MQ Series.
  • 1+ years of recent experience installing, configuring, managing, monitoring, and troubleshooting Oracle WebLogic, Oracle Application Server, Oracle Reports Server, and Oracle OBIEE/OAS.
  • Experience deploying and troubleshooting JAR, WAR, and EAR files in domain and clustered environments.
  • Experience with application code deployment through formal change management processes and TFS version management software.
  • Ability to analyze application logs, thread dumps, JVM dumps, exception stack traces, resource utilization, connection pools, CPU usage, and memory usage.
  • Knowledge of technical troubleshooting methods for hardware, software, and application issues.
  • Strong interpersonal, problem-solving, customer service, multitasking, and communication skills, with the ability to work independently or collaboratively in a high-pressure environment.
  • Availability to provide after-hours and weekend support as needed.
Desirable Qualifications:
  • Preferably 6-8 years of experience as an application server administrator managing large-scale Oracle WebLogic environments on Unix/Linux operating systems.
  • Experience configuring and managing COTS products such as Xerox DocuShare, OpenText, Liquid Office, HP Quality Center, Tableau, and ESRI ArcGIS.
