Responsibilities

Posting Summary: Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking an Oracle Financial Reporting Analyst for the Financial Data Analytics and Reporting office, within University Finance and Administration (UFA). Under the direction of the Senior Manager, Data Management and Reporting, this position supports the development and delivery of operational financial reporting solutions across the UFA division, contributing to a university‑wide reporting footprint that serves more than 2,000 Oracle ERP users and over 2,000 Tableau users who rely on UFA reporting for financial operations, budgeting, planning, and compliance.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to clarify reporting needs and document functional requirements.
  • Translate reporting requirements into clear technical specifications in collaboration with OIT and end‑users.
  • Develop and maintain ERP reports using Oracle ERP reporting tools such as OTBI, BI Publisher, Smart View, and FRS; support Tableau‑based operational reports as required.
  • Conduct data validation, reconciliation, and testing to ensure accuracy and reliability of report outputs.
  • Perform testing of reports during Oracle updates to ensure continued functionality.
  • Apply a strong working knowledge of data flow within the Oracle ERP systems and integration across modules (e.g., General Ledger, Projects (PPM), Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Fixed Assets, Cash Management).
  • Manage assigned reporting requests and support prioritization through Jira/ServiceNow to ensure timely resolution.
  • Troubleshoot reporting errors, data issues, and access problems; elevate technical issues when appropriate.
  • Respond to help desk inquiries, providing timely, accurate, and constructive support.
  • Maintain report definitions, technical documentation, folder structures, and security settings within Oracle and Tableau environments.
  • Support end‑user training and develop user‑facing documentation and job aids to enable effective use of financial reports and reporting tools.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Candidates with degrees in other disciplines must demonstrate relevant professional experience in financial reporting, ERP systems, or data analytics to meet the role's functional requirements.
  • At least five (5) years of experience developing financial or operational reports in a complex organizational environment.
  • A Master's degree may substitute for up to two years of the required work experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated hands‑on expertise with Oracle reporting tools, including BI Publisher, OTBI, FRS, Oracle SQL, and Smart View, with a deep understanding of how data flows through the Oracle ERP system.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate financial business requirements into functional and technical reporting specifications.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and maintaining BI Publisher reports and templates using Oracle BI Publisher Template Builder.
  • Proficiency in SQL (Oracle SQL preferred).
  • Understanding of financial processes and reporting, including:
    • General ledger structures.
    • Chart of accounts design.
    • Sub‑ledger integrations (AP, AR, PPM, Assets, Cash Management).
    • Allocations, consolidations, and financial close processes.
  • Experience with report testing, documentation, data validation, and troubleshooting.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other MS Office applications.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in higher education or public sector institutions.
  • Experience developing and maintaining Tableau reports.
  • Experience integrating or validating data across multiple ERP modules or systems.
  • Experience using Oracle Cloud Financials (ERP and HCM) modules, e.g., Project Portfolio Management (PPM), Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Fixed Assets, Cash Management.
  • Exposure to Oracle Analytics Cloud (OAC) and emerging Oracle reporting capabilities.

Equipment Utilized:

  • Oracle ERP, Oracle Transactional Business Intelligence (OTBI), BI Publisher, Smart View, Financial Reporting Studio (FRS), Oracle SQL, Tableau, Jira, ServiceNow, and Microsoft Office applications including Excel.

Special Conditions:

  • This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement, subject to approval and operational needs.
