Hidden Jobs in the United States is seeking a Database Administrator to join an agile scrum team supporting federal web applications. You will perform hands-on database development and administration, with a focus on performance tuning and secure operations.

You will collaborate with application engineers to write and optimize stored procedures, scripts, and batch jobs, manage users and environments, and ensure DHS-suitable access within a two-week sprint cadence.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of total work experience in database development.
• Hands-on experience with Oracle databases in Amazon RDS and strong proficiency in SQL.
• Demonstrated ability to write new and modify existing stored procedures, scripts, and triggers.
• Experience writing batch jobs and querying from complex databases.
• Track record of partnering with development teams to tune queries and troubleshoot performance issues.
• Solid knowledge of RDBMS internals and of SQL development tools such as SQL Developer or TOAD.
• Strong statistical and analytical thinking, attention to detail, and ability to manage shifting priorities under aggressive deadlines.
• Clear verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to obtain and maintain DHS suitability, which requires U.S. citizenship.

Responsibilities

• Operate as the database administrator within an agile scrum team supporting federal web applications.
• Participate in agile ceremonies and complete user stories within defined two-week sprint due dates.
• Optimize database infrastructure and performance alongside development teams.
• Write and modify stored procedures, scripts, and triggers, and develop batch jobs that query complex databases.
• Manage admin tasks such as creating users, roles, and database instances across local and higher environments.
• Apply IT security and database management best practices to protect federal data.
