Job summary

Synergy ECP in Columbia, MD is seeking a Database Engineer to design, implement, administer, and optimize Oracle database environments. The ideal candidate will have strong Oracle Database administration skills, advanced SQL and PL/SQL, and experience supporting mission-critical applications in secure, high-availability environments.

You will collaborate with software developers and system engineers to ensure performance, reliability and security.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS, IS, Engineering, or related field; 5 years of experience may substitute for a degree
• Strong Oracle Database experience (11g/12c/19c+).
• Advanced SQL and PL/SQL development skills.
• Experience with RMAN backup and recovery.
• Linux-based server experience.
• Familiarity with version control (Git).
• Excellent troubleshooting and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced technical environment.

Looking for a Database Engineer responsible for designing, implementing, administering, and optimizing Oracle database environments. The ideal candidate will possess strong Oracle Database administration skills, advanced SQL and PL/SQL development expertise, and experience supporting mission-critical applications in secure, high-availability environments. This individual will work closely with software developers, system engineers, and infrastructure teams to ensure the performance, reliability, and security of database systems.

CWIP: IAT Level 1

Tech Experience: Oracle w/Sql

Years of Experience: 5 years w/ degree (10 years w/o)

Position Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical discipline (or equivalent experience). 5 Years of experience may be subsituted for bachelors degree
• Strong experience with Oracle Database (11g, 12c, 19c, or newer)
• Advanced SQL and PL/SQL development experience
• Experience with Oracle RMAN backup and recovery
• Experience performing database performance tuning using Oracle tools
• Strong understanding of indexing, query optimization, execution plans, and database architecture
• Experience supporting Linux-based server environments
• Experience with database migrations, upgrades, and patch management
• Familiarity with version control systems such as Git
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced technical environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) certification
• Experience with Oracle Data Guard, RAC, ASM, or GoldenGate
• Experience supporting Agile software development teams
• Familiarity with scripting languages such as Bash or Python
• Experience with DevOps tools and CI/CD pipelines
