Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic radiographic procedures per physician orders and protocols.
• Position patients and ensure comfort and safety during imaging.
• Produce high-quality radiographic images for interpretation.
• Operate radiology equipment safely per ALARA principles.
• Verify patient identity and imaging orders before exams.
• Assist with portable, bedside, trauma, and stat imaging in hospital/ER.
• Respond promptly to ED imaging requests and support patient flow.
• Communicate imaging needs with clinicians and team.
• Document procedures and contrast administration when applicable.
• Maintain imaging rooms, equipment, supplies and cleanliness.
• Assist with trauma activations and urgent clinical situations as assigned.
• Follow infection prevention and hospital policies.
• Explain procedures to patients and address questions to alleviate anxiety.
• Present professional conduct and dress per facility standards.

Description

The Radiology Tech performs diagnostic imaging procedures in support of patient care throughout the hospital. This role is responsible for producing high-quality radiographic images in a timely manner, assisting providers and nursing staff with imaging-related needs, and ensuring patient safety, comfort, and compliance with applicable policies and radiation safety standards.

Requirements

Associate degree in Radiologic Technology required

Current certification and registration by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) required

Current Wyoming Radiologic Technologist license required

Current BLS obtained within 90 days of hire

Previous experience in hospital radiology or emergency department imaging preferred

Must be able to provide rapid response during designated on-call duties

Knowledge of radiographic procedures, patient positioning, radiation safety, and equipment operation

Summary

1. Performs diagnostic radiographic procedures in accordance with physician orders and departmental protocols. This includes inpatient, outpatient, OR, and ER orders.

2. Positions patients appropriately, explains procedures, and ensures patient comfort and safety during imaging.

3. Produces high-quality images for interpretation by radiologists and providers.

4. Operates radiology equipment safely and maintains adherence to radiation safety standards and ALARA principles.

5. Verifies patient identity, imaging orders, and procedure requirements prior to performing examinations.

6. Assists with portable, bedside, trauma, and stat imaging as needed throughout the hospital, including the Emergency Department.

7. Responds promptly to emergency department imaging requests and supports patient flow during high-volume or high-acuity situations.

8. Communicates effectively with physicians, nurses, radiologists, and other healthcare team members regarding imaging needs and patient status.

9. Documents procedures, contrast administration if applicable, and other required information accurately and timely.

10. Maintains imaging rooms, equipment, supplies, and work areas in a clean, organized, and ready state.

11. Assists with trauma activations, critically ill patients, and other urgent clinical situations as assigned.

12. Follows infection prevention, safety, and hospital policies at all times.

13. Comprehensively explains the process and procedure to the patient and answer

14. questions the patient has regarding the procedure to alleviate any patient anxiety – do not give the patient a diagnosis or answer questions that should be answered by a physician.
