Job summary

Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Hospital is seeking an Operating Room Endo Technician to support the Endoscopy Team in providing high-quality care for surgical and endoscopy procedures.

The role requires aseptic technique, sterilization knowledge, and careful preparation and setup of instruments. You will work under supervision with strong emphasis on accuracy and teamwork, aligning with the hospital's mission and Watson Model of Care.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• BLS certification required.
• CST certification preferred.
• Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in an acute care OR hospital setting.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Operating Room Endo Technician will report to the Director of Perioperative Services and work under the supervision of Operating Room Supervisor. He/she will assists the Endoscopy Team in providing high quality health care to the patients require surgical and procedural intervention. He/she will apply knowledge of aseptic technique, principles of sterilization and understanding of the purpose and use of endoscopy equipment and instruments. This position requires close concentration and high degree of accuracy and organization to prepare, set up and assists on various surgical and endoscopy procedures. Operating Room Endoscopy Technician is responsible as an individual and as part of the team to perform to the highest of standards in order to provide the best possible results in the perioperative patient care. This position requires full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the Mission of Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Hospital. It is expected that the employee will demonstrate behavior consistent with the Core Values. The employee shall support Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Hospital's strategic plan and the goals and direction of the quality and performance improvement process activities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Demonstrates excellent customer service skills in all communications .

3. Communicates all necessary information to the Circulating Nurse and/or Operating Room Clinical Supervisor in a timely manner.
4. Able to prioritize responsibilities and multi-task efficiently and effectively.
5. Able to work under pressure and act calmly and effectively in a busy or stressful situation.
6. Follows all written policies and procedures of the hospital.
7. Assembles appropriate supplies/equipment throughout the surgical and endoscopic procedure.
8. Maintains and monitors sterility of the surgical field/equipment/environment throughout the procedure.
9. Decontaminates, cleans, assembles, and sterilizes instruments when necessary.
10. Works in collaboration with the procedural and circulating nurse to ensure accuracy of sponge, needle, and instrument counts throughout procedures as well as identification of the surgical and endoscopy specimens.
11. Verifies equipment functions properly before the procedure.
12. Demonstrates knowledge and participates in providing high quality, individualized patient/family centered care within the Watson Model of Care including key elements of Caring, Competence, Communication and Commitment.
13. Performs other related duties as assigned.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

A. Education

High School Diploma required

BLS certification required

Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) preferred.

Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills

B. Qualifications/Experience

Minimum of 3 years of experience in an acute care "OR" hospital setting.

C. Special Skills/Knowledge

Knowledge of current infection control practices, instruments and sterilization procedures.
