Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health is seeking an OR Tech I to join the Operating Room team at Jersey City Medical Center. The role supports the surgeon and RN before, during, and after procedures, ensuring patient safety and efficient workflow.

Required are a surgical technician training program, NBSTSA certification, and BLS for Healthcare Providers, with a flexible, full-time daytime schedule and alternating weekends.

  • High School diploma or equivalent required and surgical technician training completed.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities; ability to multitask and work independently.
  • 2–3 years of experience in a surgical setting.

Pay Range: $31.41 - $38.42 per hour

The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.

Job Overview

A member of the surgical team, acting under the direction of a Registered Nurse, who works with the surgeon and RN in delivering patient care and assuming appropriate responsibility before, during and after surgery.

Qualifications
  • HighSchooldiplomaorequivalent
  • Completion of a Surgical Technician training program
  • 2 – 3 years of experience
  • Must have strong knowledge with skill being able to scrub the following service lines: robotics, vascular, endovascular, neurovascular, general, thoracic, neuro/spine, orthopedics, complex plastic cases and trauma
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (verbally and written)
  • Must be able to make calls. Must be flexible, able to multitask and be able to work independently
Certifications and Licenses Required
  • Certified Surgical Technician, required
  • NBSTSA Certification, required
  • Current BLS Healthcare Provider Certification required with American Heart Association
Scheduling Requirements
  • 11:00 am – 7:00 pm
  • Full Time
  • Alternating Weekends, holidays and call coverage
