Job summary

Intermountain Health in St George is seeking a Surgical Services Support Technician to safely move patients between the OR and PACU, restock equipment, and aid in room turnover while maintaining sterile technique.

The role requires collaboration with the surgical team, assisting anesthesia staff, and readiness to respond to codes. Training in Basic Aseptic Technique is provided as needed, with on-site full-time hours.

Qualifications

  • BLS certification for Healthcare Providers or completion within 3 months of employment.
  • Pass Basic Aseptic Technique class within 90 days of hire or transfer.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to fulfill on-call and weekend shift requirements and provide emergency staffing support.

Responsibilities

  • Transports patients safely to and from OR/holding area or PACU using proper handling techniques.
  • Consults with anesthesiologist and RN to determine equipment and supply needs before procedures.
  • Processes post-surgical case carts; discards sharps, empties suction canisters, and reprocesses supplies.
  • Sets up fluid warmers, invasive lines, and sterile supplies for anesthesia when assigned.
  • Ensures timely OR turnover by cleaning surfaces, removing waste, and preparing rooms for next case.
  • Transports blood products and specimens to/from blood bank, OR, SDS, PACU and lab following safety protocols.
  • Stocks supplies in OR, SDS, and PACU; assists with other duties as directed.
  • Supports with temperature logging, eyewash checks, and maintaining utility and storage areas.
  • Maintains proper traffic patterns and sanitation of instruments and equipment.
  • May scrub in, gown, and glove as training allows and support the surgeon as directed.
