Job summary

Guadalupe Regional Medical Center is seeking an OR Scrub Tech to support surgical teams across the Operating Room, Sterile Processing and Outpatient Center. You will prepare and handle specialized equipment, ensuring sterility and readiness for procedures.

The ideal candidate holds an accredited surgical technology program with national certification and may have military or federal service training as a path to qualification. High school diploma or equivalent is required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Accredited surgical technology program with certification by NBSTSA, NCCT or approved equivalent.
• US military training in surgical technology or equivalent federal service training is acceptable.
• Previous health facility experience as a surgical technologist preferred.
• Recent graduate with certification within 180 days may qualify.

Responsibilities

• Function as instrument nurse on surgical procedures.
• Set up and care for specialized equipment and supplies.
• Perform duties in Operating Room, Sterile Processing and Outpatient Center.

Scope of Responsibility

As an OR Scrub Tech, you will function as the i nstrument nurs e on surgical procedures, setting up and caring for specialized equipment, and performing related duties in the Operating Room, Sterile Processing and at the Outpatient Center.

• Responsible to the Executive Director of Perioperative Services
• Education
• High School Diploma or equivalent required
• Has successfully completed an accredited educational program for surgical technologists and holds and maintains certification as a surgical technologist by either the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting or its successor, the National Center for Competency Testing or its successor, or another surgical technologist certification program approved by the department; or
• Has completed a training program for surgical technology in the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps or Coast Guard of the United States or in the United States Public Health Service Commissioned Corps; or
• Was employed to practice surgical technology in a health care facility before September 1, 2009; or
• Is performing duties related to surgical technology in the service of the federal government; or
• Is a recent graduate of a surgical technology program and obtains certification within 180 days

Training and Experience

• Obtains and maintains American Heart Association BLS Healthcare Provider
• 1 year previous experience preferred
