Job summary

Memorial Hermann Surgery Center – Southwest, part of United Surgical Partners International (USPI), seeks an experienced Operating Room Registered Nurse Circulator to join our team. You will support circulating duties, ensure patient safety, and coordinate with surgeons and anesthesia in a fast-paced OR.

Ideal candidates will have Texas RN licensure, CNOR (plus), 1 year OR nursing experience (3 preferred), and current BLS/ACLS.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• Current Texas RN license (or compact license).
• Minimum 1 year of OR nursing experience; 3 years preferred.
• BLS and ACLS required; PALS preferred.
• CNOR certification a plus.

Responsibilities

• Prepare the operating room and ensure equipment and instruments are ready.
• Assess patients pre-operatively, verify consents, address concerns.
• Serve as circulating nurse during procedures with sterile technique.
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia, and technologists for smooth workflow.
• Monitor patient status intraoperatively and respond to changes.
• Maintain accurate documentation per standards and regulations.
• Follow AORN standards and facility policies consistently.
• Participate in quality improvement and performance initiatives.
• Maintain current certifications and complete annual competencies.

Job Summary

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare the operating room and ensure all necessary equipment and instruments are available and functioning.
• Assess patients before surgery, verify consents, and address any immediate concerns.
• Serve as a circulating nurse during procedures, ensuring adherence to sterile techniques and patient safety protocols.
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and surgical technologists to ensure smooth workflow.
• Monitor patient status intraoperatively and respond promptly to changes.
• Maintain accurate, detailed documentation in accordance with facility and regulatory standards.
• Follow AORN standards and facility policies consistently.
• Participate in ongoing quality improvement and performance initiatives.
• Maintain current certifications and complete annual competencies.
