Job summary

Surgery Partners, Inc. seeks an OR Radiologic Technologist to perform diagnostic radiographic procedures in the operating room, following established protocols to aid diagnosis and maintain image quality. You will explain procedures to patients and ensure radiation safety while supporting patient comfort.

Required ARRT registration, state licensure (TMB), and BLS, plus experience with C‑Arm and spine/orthopedic imaging. Must demonstrate clinical competence and teamwork in a busy OR setting.

Qualifications

  • ARRT registered and in good standing required.
  • State license (TMB) required.
  • BLS certification required.
  • Experience with OR imaging, C‑Arm, spine and ortho procedures preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews physician orders for diagnostic x‑ray procedures accurately.
  • Validates patient identification before performing procedures.
  • Communicates with patient to obtain medical history pertinent to the procedure.
  • Checks imaging equipment and room conditions for safe operation.
  • Explains procedures to patient to facilitate cooperation and comfort.
  • Ensures infection control and patient safety during imaging.
  • Adheres to radiation safety and MRI safety guidelines.
  • Reviews images for quality and suitability for interpretation.
  • Participates in Quality Control/Quality Assurance programs.
  • Maintains good rapport with department and facility staff.

Job description

General Summary Of Duties

The OR Radiologic Technologist is responsible for performing diagnostic radiographic procedures in accordance with established protocols to assist in the diagnosis of diseases and injuries. Responsibilities include explaining procedures to patients, operating imaging equipment accurately, and demonstrating clinical and age‑specific competencies. This role requires selecting appropriate technical factors to achieve optimal image quality while maintaining radiation safety standards. Additionally, the technologist is responsible for reviewing images to ensure they are suitable for interpretation.

Requirements
  • Technologist must be registered and in good standing with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  • TMB (state license)
  • BLS required
  • Experience in OR operating C-Arm, extensive spine and ortho experience necessary
Essential Functions
  • Reviews and interprets physician order for the diagnostic x-ray procedure accurately.
  • Validates all patient identification before performing any diagnostic x-ray procedure accurately.
  • Communicates with patient to obtain medical history and/or specific medical information that is pertinent to the procedure and/or patient’s well‑being during the procedure.
  • Validates proper working conditions and technical factors of all imaging equipment and procedure room.
  • Explains procedure to patient to facilitate patient cooperation and alleviate patient anxiety; ensures patient comfort and safety.
  • Assumes responsibility for patient care during the imaging procedure to include infection control.
  • Follows procedure protocols and policies and procedures in performing diagnostic x-ray procedures.
  • Demonstrates competence in collimation, patient positioning and radiation safety to reduce radiation exposure as much as possible.
  • Practices radiation safety/MRI safety for patients, family, visitors and self.
  • Critiques all images for image quality for interpretation.
  • Actively participates in the Quality Control/Quality Assurance program(s).
  • Consistently demonstrates the ability to recognize priorities and deal with them promptly.
  • Establishes and maintains a good rapport and cooperative working relationship with all members of the department and facility.
  • Demonstrates a willingness to learn new procedures and assist in other areas as needed.
  • Participates in standby call as needed to support the department/facility.
