Job summary

Intermountain Health Utah Valley Hospital is seeking a Surgical Services Support Technician to safely transport patients to and from the OR and PACU, set up and stock supplies, and maintain sterile technique.

The role emphasizes prompt case turnovers, collaboration with the surgical team, and readiness to respond to on-call duties. Expanded duties may include scrubbing into procedures and assisting with equipment handling per scope of practice.

Qualifications

• BLS certification for Healthcare Providers, or completion within three (3) months of employment.
• Basic Aseptic Technique training within 90 days of hire or transfer.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to fulfill on-call and weekend shift requirements and provide emergency staffing support as needed.

Responsibilities

• Transports patients safely to and from the OR holding area, PACU or patient rooms, using proper patient handling techniques.
• Consults with the anesthesiologist and RN to determine equipment, setup, and supply needs prior to procedures.
• Manages post-surgical case carts, discarding sharps, and sending carts for reprocessing.
• Sets up fluid warmers, invasive lines, and sterile supplies for anesthesia procedures when assigned.
• Ensures timely turnover of ORs by cleaning surfaces and preparing rooms for next case.
• Transports blood products and specimens to/from blood bank, OR, SDS, PACU, and lab, following safety protocols.
